Jeffrey A. Mathews Joins Tennova Medical Group

General surgeon specializes in a wide range of minimally invasive procedures

KNOXVILLE, TN (July 8, 2019) – Tennova Healthcare recently welcomed Jeffrey A. Mathews, M.D., general surgeon, to his new medical practice at Tennova General Surgery – Newport. Dr. Mathews is experienced in a wide range of general surgery procedures and techniques. He specializes in minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopy and colonoscopy. Dr. Mathews has a special interest in hernia, gallbladder, thyroid, appendix, colon and breast surgeries for both benign and malignant diseases. He performs surgery exclusively at Newport Medical Center.

Dr. Mathews received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis and completed a surgical residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga. He is board certified in general surgery. Prior to relocating to East Tennessee, Dr. Mathews was in private practice in Lebanon, TN.
