Annual Health Fair Hosted by Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sponsored by Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, TN (January 24, 2024) – The Clarksville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is hosting a Community Health Fair on Saturday, February 10 at Governor’s Square Mall. The Sorority has hosted the health fair since 2018, with the objective to advocate for lifestyle changes that positively influence the communities they serve. This year’s fair is sponsored by Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville.
The health fair will be located at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Entrance of the mall. The health fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants in this year’s health fair include: Tennova Medical Group providing oxygen level checks, Tennova Heart Health providing blood pressure checks, Tennova Hands Only CPR, Tennova Physical Rehabilitation, Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville Services, Minds Matter Mental Health Clinic, Aflac, Matthew Walker Clinic, GNRC Aging and Disability Services, Transamerica, and more.
At the top of each hour at the health fair, starting at 11 a.m., physicians and health care professionals will be speaking on topics of interest to fair attendees. There will be giveaways and information from other community partners of interest available to fair attendees, and there will also be some fun and engaging line dancing to make being fit fun.
Alumnae Chapter President Ms. Yolonda Williams states “We are keen on raising awareness regarding the significance and advantages of lifestyle modifications with implications for longevity, morbidity, and mortality. Our commitment to the community is unwavering. Each year at our annual event, we channel our efforts towards promoting health, with a special emphasis on heart health throughout the month of February.” She adds “This event is open to the public and together, as we strive for a healthier and stronger community.”
Physical and Mental health Chair Ms. Angela Jones shares “The PMH committee locally implements our national initiative as one component of the 5-point Programmatic Thrust. Our 2024 national theme is Healthy Lifestyle: Total Woman: Mind, Body, and Spirit, focusing on Physical and Emotional Wellness, Self-Care, Advocacy, and Awareness. We count it a privilege to serve our community in striving to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
Health Fair Committee Chair, Mrs. Tipnie Mack shares “The Health Fair is a great way to offer health information and resources to the community. It is important because it enables individuals to take charge of their health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases and other health issues.”
The Clarksville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered in 1978. They are one of 900 chaptered located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea. Their five major programs are economic development, educational development, physical & mental health, and political awareness and involvement.
